So it was one of those weeks. One of those weeks where you felt like you completed SO MUCH WORK and yet there is still SO much to do. I literally stayed late at work everyday and then somehow managed to drag myself to the gym 3 of those days. So basically I was worn out (and kinda proud that I survived with only minimal casualties)  and decided I was going to treat myself. Now I don't treat myself to manicures or facials or long bubble baths or any of that (normal) stuff. No. My brain literally said this:

"I'm tired grr grr this traffic is shitty grr grr I'm gonna go spend a lot of money on healthy shit at Whole Foods."

Cause poverty is the road to happiness correct?

Anyway after circling the hot food bar at least 20 times the beverage display caught my eye and voila! The drink I have seen so much all over the healthy living blogosphere!
Kombucha!!
So that was exciting.
I quickly snapped up almost every flavor and after paying what felt like a small down payment on a home I was free to taste test. So far I have had the cranberry and the Trilogy and Trilogy wins. It's tart and interesting and comes in a glass bottle (yeah I'm also a sucker for packaging). The only thing I don't like is the funky smell but oh well I just won't smell it.
Ok so there is my exciting find of the day...even though I know I am so late to the party.
What is a good brand/flavor of Kombucha? Anyone had any weird side effects?

Yay for my first time! ;) Now I apologize in advance for the lackluster photos, but I promise they will get better with practice! Onto the eats...

As always, thanks to the lovely Jenn for creating this great blogger meet up!

Attempting to eat breakfast was a challenge for me. I rarely eat more than candy and a few crackers but this is the new Caitlin right?? Right. So yummy blueberry yogurt and granola it was and voila my stomach wasn't grumbling through morning meeting and phone calls like usual.

I make some damn good lunches. It is just a fact. This was my idea of a thai-esque salad and had kale, bean sprouts, edamame and peanuts with a light honey mustard dressing. I know, I know, the dressing hardly fit the theme but it was what I had in the work fridge and it still tasted delicious.

This is what I "should have had for dinner" instead of what I actually had. After work and the gym I met up with some friends at a local dive bar to hang out and instead of a veggie stir fry like what is chilling the the left I had cocktails and mexican food once I got home. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

On the up side (of my total diet  failure that was "life after 6pm" I managed to only eat two of these delicious little morsels! Yay for keeping my sugar tooth under control!

Well today has been crazy long at work and then with a spinning workout so it's time for a little quiet time and then Teen Mom - yeah I'm obsessed, I'll admit it.

How do you keep the healthy eating going when out with friends?

Okay so since graduating and starting my grown up job I haven't really updated anything. To the maybe two people who read this I sincerely apologize. I really have just been so worn out from trying to apply to jobs, interview for jobs, and then now actually working that job that blogging, working out, and living any sort of well balanced life has totally fell by the wayside. It really hit me how bad I am doing at taking care of myself when I woke up this week and realized I was sick. Now I know that's an annoying statement because people get sick everyday and it doesn't mean they aren't taking care of themselves or that they somehow brought it upon themselves but in my case I really know it's true. I haven't been sick in YEARS. I can't recall the last time I was sick and I think it has a lot to do with how I was balancing everything and really taking time to listen to my body. I was busier than I am now (helllloo full time classes, LA commute and 3 jobs??) but I still found time for me, even if that meant (severely) pulling back on the social life. This summer I really have been burning the candle at both ends it seems and it has caught up with me.

THERE IS A POINT TO THIS POST BESIDES JUST ME BITCHING OKAY?! Here it goes:

I am pledging to do a better job taking care of myself and this blog will hold me accountable. Blogging and writing is something I enjoy and something that I do for me, it's my happy place. I am not saying that all of my new posts will be super informative of earth shattering but hopefully they will be entertaining and hopefully they will help me unwind. In yet another effort to stay motivated and accountable I will try to join up with the blogging party going on over at Peas and Crayons known as What I Ate Wednesday.

I really can't wait to be a part of more blogging/healthy living community activities such as this one and I really think it'll help keep me in line. Oh well now I have taken up about 15 minutes of your day that your never getting back - don't hate me too much :) As for me I am off to Dayquil it up and then head to job number 2. Ha
